Eagleton reviews Dawkins. Mr. Grayling objects. Norm comments. Mr Grayling objects...
Posted by Dr. Frank at November 21, 2006 04:37 PM | TrackBackThere's a lot I could say here, but I'll start with this: Since Dawkins is an atheist, why do the religious care what he says?
Posted by: Bill Weitze at November 22, 2006 02:34 AMThat's interesting. I read and enjoyed Dawkins' book. What confirmed my atheism more than anything, however, was reading books by people like Bart Ehrman on the history of early Christianity. I recommend 'The Orthodox Corruption of Scripture: The Effect of Early Christological Controversies on the Text of the New Testament' if anyone's interested. Not many jokes in it though.
Posted by: Bal at November 22, 2006 04:42 AMEveryone's entitled to their own opinion but I don't see how anyone can find anything Dawkin's has ever said more bonoxious than this:
"What, one wonders, are Dawkins’s views on the epistemological differences between Aquinas and Duns Scotus?"
Does one wonder that?
I thought this was a pretty good response to Eagleton:
