It was 111 degrees in the shade this afternoon in "downtown" Tempe.

Only 111? I thought it felt cooler then normal yesterday.
Posted by: Brad at August 11, 2003 07:16 PMI went to visit my folks last month for the first time since they moved to Albuquerque. I felt like I'd stepped out of the airport on to the *surface of the sun*. At that was at 10 PM!
Posted by: Emily at August 11, 2003 07:37 PMThe surface of the sun, i know what you mean! It was 99 here in London, the hottest weather since records began, and they're saying it's just the start...global warming etc. Quite scary really. For us english anyway, we're not used to the heat, our public transport system can't cope, it's a joke. The other day i was waiting for the tube for an hour because the train had stopped in a tunnel and people had passed out, there were ambulances everywhere. Anyway. I just found out about this site from lookout. It's awesome to see how things are going. I haven't heard the mp3s yet but i'll try them (computer permitting- it's terrible) i think the idea of lots of folks doing the shouty group backups on 'boyfriend box' sounds really cool. I think of that as sounding a little more donnas than rancid, not to put you off (i am a chick) but if it sounds different that's great. Diversity and all that...it's important. I'm sure there'll be plenty. I can't sleep it's too hot...
Posted by: Georgie at August 11, 2003 10:22 PMYeah, it's hot here...but that's because the hottest band in the word came through town. Thanks MTX for coming to Tucson!!! Can I give you some feedback on the show? I really liked the new songs lyrics. "I am standing in my field waiting to get PLOWED!" That rules! All three that you played reminded me of the summer when I first experienced the Mr. T Experience. It made me remeniss to the days when I layed in bed all night with headphones listening to "Martyr" and "Dustbin of History." After the show, I went right home, into bed, and put on my headphones...CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEW ALBUM!!! PS - thanks for the cheap Mr. T-shirt!
Posted by: Derek Griffith at August 11, 2003 10:31 PMah yes tempe. i remember it well. i went to art school for a while there. but its a dry heat.;)
i was always amused by the competition on prices
for a freakin slushie.
but the monsoons rival bay area storms!

Hmm, well this doesn't really seem liek the completely accurate place to post this but here goes,
HEy ther mr/doctor/hearthrob Frank sir, i was recently in arizon and had a superbly shitty time, accentuated mainly be the lack of any decent band being anywhere in the state. Now the post on the temperature has only reminded me of that horrible time. SO i demand that you in all of your extreme capacity for the entertainment of eighteen to twenty-six (age of myself and the brother i law who introduced me to the great and omnipresent power of "revenge is sweet..." through "alcatraz")yearold males (sex of myself and said brother in law)Come for a visit, perhaps even a show. THe place I wish for this to happen at is at the Flint Local 432 Punk Rock club in downtown flint michigan. I end this only with a url (Flintlocal432.com) and a "Pretty pretty please!
Posted by: robert at August 12, 2003 02:46 AMIt's hot here in San Diego too, and we've got the almighty ocean right at hand! Ah, well, such is life. I can't wait for the new album and I'm glad the recording is done. Love those pictures!
Posted by: Don at August 12, 2003 04:15 AMDr. Frank lives... heh heh. It was about 13 years ago when I bought your first record, and now my 7 year old daughter listens to your music. I think she has a crush on you. Does the band have any plans to tour the East this year? If you play anywhere near DC I promised to bring her to the show. Oh, and sorry it's so damn hot out there.
Posted by: mike h at August 12, 2003 07:02 AMYou know, the famous story we Arizonans like to tell is the time it got up to 122, and some of the planes couldn't take off because the charts that told the pilots how to set their controls only went up to 120!
Posted by: kristine at August 12, 2003 07:36 AMWell, that's just bullshit. 111 degrees is completely unnecessary. At least it's a dry heat. You can wear your sweater! (Not that you probably have any.)
Up here in Oregon we get a dry heat in the Summer and a dry rain in the Winter. Seriously. :)
(I can't believe I just wrote about weather in the comments section of a blog...)
Posted by: Michael J. Totten at August 12, 2003 09:13 AMhey, i coulnt make it to the show but i live in arizona and 111 is pretty low haha well gotta go bye
Posted by: zack at August 13, 2003 02:50 AMOnly 111? You are all girly men. It's usually that hot by 8am out here in the glorious middle east.
