MTX guitar player Ted Angel in the medium guitar room with Rickenbacker guitar and Vox amp. My favorite old Silvertone amp is over on the right.
One of the guitar-slingers in my band plays through the rehearsal studio's beat-to-hell Silvertone. He loves that thing dearly, even though it will occasionally crap out while he abuses it (he is a big fan o' the gain).
Inimitable tone, though. Especially when he plays his likewise-Sears-Silvertone gee-tar through it. Vintage. Smooth. Warm.
Posted by: geoff at July 23, 2003 05:59 PMBy the way, Frank, these from-the-studio updates are supercool. Alkaline Trio did a similar thing while making their last album, only their updates were less... I dunno... personal.
Anyway: Neat!
Posted by: geoff at July 23, 2003 06:02 PMGlad to see you back at Sharkbite! I wish I was there. I had a lot of fun w/ you guys during the Alcatraz recording. Please say hi to Kevin for me...if you even remember, you know, Matt from Sharkbite? It's been a while...anyway, keep up the posts if you can manage. They're great.
Living vicariously is still living!

Matt, man, I feel bad because I forwarded your email to Kevin and had been meaning to write back myself and never quite got around to it. Sorry man. I think of you everytime I can't figure out how to turn something on (which is nearly all the time.) Nice to hear from you, now as then.
Everybody else: Matt was an engineer on the Alcatraz sessions and all around cool guy.

Ditto geoff's. Not only a near real-time glimpse into the recording process, but into the recording process of one of the greatest bands in the world! Pretty fucking neat indeed!
